Just back from two weeks camping with my amazing wife, Sammy. Have to say that even though we didn't leave the country I've never had such a whirlwind of adventure before!
We stopped in the peaks to go to Alton Towers, which sucked. Won't be going there again. visited Poole Cavern, which was incredible. it was like something from a movie. Buxton was a great wee town very pretty.
Next we moved south to Corfe Castle on the Isles of Purbeck (which I still maintain is a PENINSULA!). The town was perfect. A ruined castle overlooking the medieval village. Two nice pubs a bakery that delivered to the campsite, morning pain au chocolat! we went to Bovington Tank museum, Monkey World, Durdle door, Lulworth cove, Swanage, Wareham, Arne nature reserve, fossil hunting in Kimmerage and sat listening to the army doing target practice one night. Very fun.
Monkey world was incredible, so many monkeys saved from human cruelty and in decent enclosures. Listening to the Gibbons singing was something that i'll remember until I die. the Orang Utans were just mind-blowing. Everything about those gentle ginger giants was magnificent.
Durdle door was the most stunning place I've visited in Britain. It was well over 24 degrees and the sea beckoned. I only paddled, since although the sea beckoned it was bloody cold! a naval frigate watched the people making the most of the gorgeous warmth.
The final part of our adventure took us to Cornwall, where we stayed on a farm with Angus cows as our only neighbours. We went to the Eden project which is out of this world! Walking through a rainforest, seeing it from a platform 100ft in the air suspended from the domes roof!
We also spent a day in Looe, a gorgeous coastal town. Tiny streets curve off in every direction and the walk around the West of Looe revealed views over the channel. simple awesome!
Back now to get stuck into as many projects as I possible can, art, engineering, everything!! What is better is that I'm on my count down to finally finishing up in work. 24th of August can't come soon enough!
